Opening Day Has Arrived!

We did it!!!!

We got the approval from the Fire Department and our business license. We opened this morning ready or not and we couldn't be more excited.  With my mom and my sister by my side we welcomed our first customers and began our lives as store owners.

We got more inventory from the other store then we can fit in this area so our break room, store room, and sorting room are still full of boxes (and Christmas trees) but the store area looks great.  Here are some pictures to enjoy.

The banner I put up to announce the store.  It is hard for people to know there is a store inside the doctor's offices in that plaza.  This banner and great word of mouth made for a good first day.
Our first customer!!  Thankfully this happens to be my best friend Angie Kitchen.
Our first donation!!  This just happens to be Angie's husband Calvin Kitchen.  What great friends we have!

Here is the front of the store.  This is what you see when you walk in the door.

This is my seasonal display.  It sits right across from the check out desk.
Our media display.
In the large area by the back door I have a cabinet that holds many of the nick-knacks.

Going towards the back of the store you have the purple curtains that hide the break room to the left and the toy display.

This room is the boy's closet.

This room is the girl's closet.

Here is where we sell the linens and loose material.

This is the shoe display.  Having worked in the shoe department before, I know this area will need constant attention.

Women have so many clothes that I had to have a rack just for their jeans because they wouldn't fit in the room.

And here is the kitchen that Rebecca and my Mother worked so hard on.  The pictures do not do it justice.  I think it is everyone's favorite room in the store.

Another view of the kitchen.
In the back we have the library and game area.

It was a long but a good day.  Time to turn the sign in the window to closed (it says closed on the side customers would come in) and lock the door.

My mom snapped a picture of me counting the money at the end of the day.  She thought it would be fun to show everyone how successful the day was.
This is the first of many busy days in our new store.  Although there is still much work to be done, I am so happy with the reception we were given.  Everyone commented on how cute the store was and how fun it was to shop there.  They all promise to tell their friends.  Let's hope they do.
